More Than a Floor. A Design Statement.

Parquet is the most character-defining floor you can put in a home. The geometry commands a room. The craftsmanship holds its value for decades. And when it’s fitted properly — with the right preparation, the right pattern placement, and the right materials — it’s the floor people walk into and immediately comment on.

At Luxury Flooring Manchester, parquet is our speciality — and our passion. We supply and fit the full range of parquet styles in both engineered wood and luxury vinyl tile (LVT), serving homeowners across Greater Manchester and Cheshire from our Wythenshawe showroom. From a classic oak herringbone in a Didsbury Victorian hallway to a bespoke Versailles panel in a Wilmslow kitchen extension — we handle the design, the preparation, and the precision fitting from start to finish.

Parquet Styles We Supply & Fit

Engineered Wood or LVT Parquet — Which Is Right for You?

Both are beautiful. The right choice depends on your home, your lifestyle, and where the floor is going.

Engineered Wood Parquet — Real oak or walnut surface on a stable multi-ply core. Authentic warmth, natural grain, and the ability to be sanded and refinished over time. Our most popular choice for lounge, dining, and bedroom settings. Supply from £39/m².

LVT Parquet — The same geometric elegance with the practical advantages of luxury vinyl: 100% waterproof, compatible with underfloor heating, and resistant to the daily wear of busy family homes. Ideal for kitchens, hallways, and extensions. Available in Karndean, Amtico, and Project Floors — all stocked in our showroom.

Not sure which suits your project? Our specialists will advise you honestly — including when one option is a better fit than the other, even if it’s the cheaper one.

Expert Parquet Fitting — We Handle Everything

A parquet floor is only as good as the preparation beneath it — and the precision of the fitter laying it. Pattern alignment, centre-line setting, border planning, and subfloor levelness are what separates a good parquet floor from a truly exceptional one.

Our specialist team handles every stage:

Subfloor Assessment — moisture testing on every project before a single block goes down
SR1 Glass-Flat Levelling — professional latex screeding for concrete subfloors
Ply-Boarding — stabilising timber subfloors to eliminate bounce and movement
Centre-Line Setting — laser-calculated layout to ensure perfect pattern symmetry
Full-Bed Adhesive Bonding — every parquet block fully bonded for a rock-solid, creak-free finish
Border & Tramline Fitting — precision-cut borders and contrasting feature strips
Underfloor Heating Compatibility — correct adhesives and acclimatisation for UFH installations

Every installation is covered by our exclusive workmanship warranty — product and fitting, on every project, no exceptions.

Frequently Asked Questions — Parquet Flooring Manchester

Both are zigzag parquet patterns, but the key difference is in the block cut. Herringbone uses square-ended rectangular blocks laid at 90° to each other, creating a classic broken zigzag. Chevron blocks are cut at an angle — typically 45° or 60° — so the two sides of the pattern meet in a clean, unbroken V-shape. Chevron reads as slightly sharper and more contemporary; herringbone is the more traditional choice. Both are available in engineered wood and LVT from our showroom.

es — both for materials and fitting. Parquet requires more precise cutting, careful centre-line planning, and significantly more installation time than straight plank. Our parquet fitting starts from £50/m² compared to £30/m² for standard plank. Material costs vary by product and pattern — engineered parquet from £39/m², LVT parquet from the mid-£30s/m². We provide itemised quotes so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

.

Yes — with the right product and the right adhesive. Both LVT parquet and engineered wood parquet can be fitted over underfloor heating, but it’s critical to use a high-temperature flexible adhesive and to acclimatise the flooring correctly before installation. Our team is fully experienced in UFH installations across Greater Manchester and will advise on the best product for your system.

A Versailles panel is a large square parquet tile made up of a geometric arrangement of diagonal strips within a square frame — originating from the Palace of Versailles in 17th-century France. They’re significantly larger than herringbone blocks and create a very grand, formal effect. Because of their size and pattern complexity, they require a perfectly level subfloor and an experienced fitter. We have full-size panels on display in our Wythenshawe showroom.

It depends on where the floor is going and how it will be used. Engineered wood is the premium choice for lounge, dining, and bedroom settings — it has authentic warmth, real wood grain, and can be refinished over time. LVT is the better choice for kitchens, hallways, and extensions — it’s 100% waterproof, harder wearing day-to-day, and more stable over underfloor heating. Both look stunning. Our specialists will give you an honest recommendation for your specific project.

A typical room takes one to two days for the fitting alone, plus time for subfloor preparation beforehand. Larger rooms, complex borders, or Versailles panels take longer. We always assess the subfloor first and give you a realistic project timeline before work starts — no surprises.

Both solid and engineered wood parquet can be lightly sanded and refinished, depending on the wear layer thickness. Most quality engineered parquet — including the Woodpecker and V4 ranges we stock — allows for at least two to three refinishes over its lifetime. LVT parquet cannot be sanded but its wear layer protects the design layer for the lifespan of the floor.

LVT parquet is ideal for kitchens — it’s waterproof, easy to clean, and exceptionally durable. Engineered wood parquet can be used in kitchens with care but is not recommended for bathrooms or utility rooms where standing water is likely. For wet rooms and high-moisture areas, we’ll always steer you towards an LVT option rather than wood.

Day-to-day maintenance is straightforward: regular sweeping or vacuuming to remove grit, and occasional damp mopping with an appropriate floor cleaner. For engineered wood, avoid excessive moisture and use a wood-specific cleaner. LVT is more forgiving and easier to maintain. We provide a full aftercare guide with every installation, and our team is always available if you have questions after your floor is fitted.
