Installation of Karndean Flooring in Marple, SK6.

PROJECT OVERVIEW:  Our client, Mr Hoare contacted Luxury Flooring Manchester whilst in the process of extending the rear of his property so to increase the size of his kitchen and create a new dining area. The property was an old bakery on Church Lane, Marple SK6 so he wanted the flooring to keep with the history and traditional features of the property. He contacted us after searching for a local company that specialises in Karndean flooring in Marple.

Once we had an understanding of the project we put together a number of options and ultimately agreed that Karndean Opus Fumo was perfect.

FLOOR SPECIFICATION: Karndean Fumo SP216 – “Inspired by a unique batch of limestone sourced from a Lake District quarry in England, we were keen to introduce a product that authentically replicates the extraordinary details of the original. The smoky grey tones and sleek appearance will work effectively in both traditional and contemporary interiors. Fumo has an R10 slip resistance rating and a 15-year commercial guarantee. This design is also available in a smaller 18” x 3” tile which can be laid in a herringbone or block design for an extra sense of style.”

SUBFLOOR PREPARATION & FITTING: We started this project by installing a damp proof membrane to the floor which was left to cure for 24 hours. The floor was then finished using up Ardex NA smoothing compound. Once we had established that the floor was completely dry we began the installation. The large-format tiles – Karndean Opus Fumo – we installed in a traditional brick bond style  and installed by our Karndean Fitters
