One of our recent clients had an extensive search for a local flooring contractor specialising in Ted Todd engineered wood flooring, and they found us. The project involved transforming a ground floor apartment at Jackson House in the Northern Quarter. The client desired a flooring product that would pay homage to the apartment’s heritage as a former warehouse. Together, we discovered the perfect solution – Sugarcane, a stunning product from Ted Todd’s Warehouse range.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

Ted Todd’s Sugar Cane brings the perfect slice of undulating natural oak to any interior. Choose from four variations including wide and extra wide planks as well as herringbone flooring blocks and chevron.

Sugar Cane is engineered using nature grade FSC-certified European oak which has a broad range of natural characteristics, such as knots, sap and colour variation.

The 190mm wide planks are 15mm thick with a 4mm wear layer while the extra wide 220mm planks are 20mm thick with a 6mm wear layer. The narrow herringbone is 90mm wide and 540mm long. We’ve brushed the wood to subtly highlight the grain detail and softened the edges which help deliver the undulating feel of this floor. Sugar Cane has a hardened oil finish that combines a natural look with a subtle sheen. This oil-based finish has an outer layer that is hardened to give extra wear and splash resistance making it easy to maintain. All 15mm Sugar Cane planks and parquet can be used as wall cladding.

FLOOR PREPARATION AND EXPERT INSTALLATION

This unique project required us to uplift an existing floor due to a major leak. Our team skillfully repaired the supporting floor and subfloor in the hallway and ground floor WC. To create a durable and flawless surface, we expertly overlaid the wooden substrate with Hanson SP101 9mm ply, followed by a fiber-reinforced screed by Ardex.
