The Vision: Restoring a Salford Landmark

The remarkable transformation of Irlam Train Station became a reality thanks to the incredible collaborative efforts of the Hamilton Davies Trust, Salford City Council, North Cheshire Developments, Transport for Greater Manchester, Network Rail, Northern Rail, and the Friends of Irlam Train Station. Together, these organisations pooled their resources to breathe new life into this deserving community landmark.

Master Craftsmanship by Local Experts

Our master wood flooring fitter, Chris Blink, was entrusted with the complex task of assessing, designing, and installing premium Ted Todd solid wood flooring throughout the revitalised station. The project scope covered the ground floor, the first floor, and the connecting staircases.

Commercial-Grade Subfloor Preparation

A high-traffic commercial project demands meticulous subfloor preparation to ensure the final floor covering remains flawless for decades. Our preparation process included:

• • Moisture Protection: Installation of a commercial-grade damp-proof membrane (DPM).

  • Structural Stabilisation: Extensive plyboarding to reinforce the foundation.

  • Precision Levelling: Expert application of latex screed to create a perfectly flat, stable surface across multiple levels.

Seamless Fully-Adhered Installation

With the subfloor flawlessly prepped, our team executed a fully adhered installation of the Ted Todd solid wood planks. Working their way skillfully from the first floor, down the complex staircases, and across the ground floor, the expertise of our wood flooring fitters shone throughout the entire journey, resulting in a breathtaking finish that honours the station’s heritage.
