📍 Wilmslow – Ted Todd Wood Flooring Installation

Ted Todd Project Overview: Premium Restoration in SK9
Following a major water leak at a property in Wilmslow (SK9), we were brought in to manage a complete flooring restoration. The goal was to replace the water-damaged wood with a product that offered superior stability and timeless elegance.
The client selected Ted Todd Brampton Classic. This engineered European Oak features impressive dimensions (20mm thick x 2200mm long), offering the robust feel of solid wood with the engineering required for a busy home.
Critical Subfloor Restoration & Moisture Control
Because this installation followed a significant leak, subfloor preparation was critical to ensure the new floor wouldn’t fail.
-
The Uplift: We removed the existing water-damaged solid wood flooring to expose the substrate.
-
Moisture Suppression: Testing revealed high residual moisture readings. To combat this, we applied a Full Epoxy Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) by Ardex. This creates an impenetrable barrier, guaranteeing the new wood is protected from rising damp.
-
Levelling: We finished the prep with Ardex NA, a latex-based smoothing compound, achieving a perfectly flat “SR1 Standard” surface ready for installation.
Bespoke Detailing: The Curved Staircase
The standout feature of this project was the hallway’s architecture, which featured two large curved steps.
-
Custom Fabrication: Standard stair nosings would not fit the curve. We crafted bespoke wood bullnoses from the Ted Todd oak, shaping them to perfectly contour the round steps.
-
The Finish: To complete the renovation, we installed matching oak skirting boards, architraves, and internal doors, delivering a cohesive, high-end finish across the Hallway, Day Room, and WC.
